EC Centrifugal Safety Brake

The centrifugal overspeed safety brake EC with or without drum allow for controlled descent in the absence of motorisation and in case of holding-brake failure. They prevent uncontrolled acceleration of the load, and what could otherwise lead to an accident becomes only an incident.

Evidently neither the holding brake nor the centrifugal brake can prevent an accident if the anomaly is in the reducer or any element after them. If the centrifugal brake is assembled with an independent transmission, it behaves as a final safety mechanism, as it will be activated regardless of any failure or malfunction that may render the holding brake or the reducer inoperative.

This centrifugal brake is designed to be fitted between motor and gearbox with standard IEC B5 flanges any type of lifting systems, elevators, construction hoist, wind turbines and wide range of winches.

The manufaturers of safety devices also know this unit as mechanical overspeed protection or safety brake for lift systems.
